A Weekend of Fellowship, Celebration and Friendship

The 201C2 District Convention was held in Millicent from 23–25 October 2026, bringing together an amazing 180 members for a fun-filled weekend of fellowship, celebration and Lions business.
With a fantastic program, plenty of opportunities to catch up with old friends and make new ones, and a wonderful welcome from our hosts in Millicent, it was certainly a weekend to remember!

Friday – Welcomes and Connections

The weekend kicked off on Friday with the Cabinet Meeting, followed by a special meet and greet at the Millicent Council Chambers. This provided a wonderful opportunity to come together and enjoy a look at the council's new facilities.
Registrations officially opened at 4pm, with members arriving, reconnecting and getting settled in for the busy weekend ahead.
A particularly memorable moment was the unique flag ceremony, where the flags were flown from the upper mezzanine. This created a wonderful visual display and a special touch to the proceedings, making the ceremony a highlight of the Friday celebrations.

Saturday – A Day of Business and Celebration

Saturday was a full day of District business, with plenty to discuss and celebrate. It was also an opportunity to recognise the dedication, commitment and outstanding service of our Lions members.
Among the many awards presented were the prestigious 50 Year Service Award, recognising an incredible milestone of service, and the 100% Secretary Awards, acknowledging the hard work and commitment of our dedicated club secretaries.
Saturday evening saw everyone come together for the convention banquet, a wonderful night of celebration and fellowship. Our District Governor took the opportunity to present thankyou acknowledgements to those who had contributed to the success of the year and the convention.
Adding something extra special to the evening, the local radio station was broadcasting live from the stage, helping share the atmosphere and excitement of the night with the wider community.

Sunday – Remembering, Celebrating and Looking Ahead

Sunday continued with more opportunities for fellowship before we paused to remember those we have lost over the past 12 months. The memorial service was a special and meaningful part of the weekend, allowing us to reflect on the lives, friendships and contributions of our fellow Lions who are sadly missed.
We also looked ahead to the future with the official handover of the convention flags to Yankalilla, who will proudly host the 201C2 District Convention in 2027.
The weekend concluded with a tour around Noorla Yo-Long, giving members another opportunity to enjoy the local area and learn more about the facilities.

A Weekend to Remember!

With 180 attendees, a full program of activities, recognition of outstanding service, wonderful hospitality and plenty of laughter, the 2026 201C2 District Convention in Millicent was a fantastic success.
A huge thankyou to everyone who helped organise the weekend, those who volunteered their time, our local hosts and all members who travelled to be part of the celebrations.
It is weekends like these that remind us what Lions is all about – service, friendship, fellowship and making a difference together.
Thank you, Millicent, for a wonderful convention. We look forward to doing it all again in Yankalilla in 2027!
